What is Insight HR’s HR Support Service?
Insight HR’s HR Support Service provides organisations with ongoing access to experienced HR professionals by phone and email whenever they need support.
We support CEOs, Managing Directors, Senior Leadership Teams, HR professionals and managers with the day-to-day realities of managing people. This includes employee relations issues, disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, absence management, employment law queries, recruitment challenges, organisational change and management support.
Many of our clients describe the service as having an experienced HR Director on the end of the phone whenever they need one.
The difference is that clients are not simply purchasing access to advice. They are building a relationship with experienced HR professionals who understand their organisation, their culture, their people and their objectives.
What makes Insight HR different from other HR support providers?
We believe effective HR support is built on experience, consistency, relationships and practical support.
Every consultant in our HR Services team has worked within organisations before moving into consultancy. Many have led HR functions, advised CEOs and Senior Leadership Teams, supported managers through difficult employee relations situations and helped organisations navigate significant change.
We take the time to understand our clients’ organisations so that our advice is grounded in context rather than delivered in isolation.
We do not believe HR support should consist of generic answers, templated responses or one-size-fits-all advice. We believe organisations deserve practical guidance that reflects the realities of their business, workforce and objectives.
Who will I be speaking to?
You will be speaking to experienced HR professionals with significant practical experience.
Our team includes consultants who have supported organisations through restructures, employee relations disputes, industrial relations challenges, organisational change programmes, complex absence issues, disciplinary processes, grievance procedures and leadership challenges.
Many have worked directly with boards, CEOs, senior leaders and HR teams and understand the pressures associated with managing people and making difficult decisions.
We believe organisations deserve access to experienced professionals who can provide judgement, perspective and practical support, not simply information.
Will I speak to the same adviser every time?
Continuity is one of the things our clients value most.
Many organisations become frustrated having to explain the same issue repeatedly to different advisers. Valuable time is lost providing background information, organisational context and historical details before meaningful advice can begin.
At Insight HR, we focus on building long-term relationships. Over time, our consultants develop a detailed understanding of the organisation, its people, its culture and its objectives.
This allows us to provide advice that is informed by context and experience rather than based solely on the issue being discussed.
Why is continuity important?
Good HR advice depends on context.
An adviser who understands your organisation is better placed to provide practical guidance than someone encountering the issue for the first time. They understand previous decisions, management styles, workplace dynamics and the wider context surrounding a particular issue.
This often leads to faster decision-making, more tailored advice and stronger outcomes.
Many of our clients tell us they value not having to start from scratch every time they contact us.
How well do your consultants get to know their clients?
Very well. We use modern systems and technology to support the delivery of our service, but we do not believe technology should replace relationships.
The more we understand an organisation, the more valuable our advice becomes. Over time, our consultants develop a detailed understanding of the organisation’s workforce, culture, management team, business objectives and growth plans.
Many clients tell us that one of the things they value most is knowing they can pick up the phone and speak to someone who already understands their business.
Can Insight HR support our internal HR team?
Absolutely. Many of our clients have internal HR teams who value having access to additional expertise, support and a second opinion.
Sometimes we act as a sounding board. Sometimes we help validate a proposed course of action. Sometimes we provide additional capacity or specialist expertise.
Our role is not to replace internal HR teams. Our role is to strengthen them and help ensure that the advice being provided to managers, senior leaders and boards is robust, practical and commercially sound.
Can Insight HR support Senior Leadership Teams and Boards?
Yes.
Our consultants regularly support CEOs, Managing Directors, Boards and Senior Leadership Teams.
Many of our team members have operated at senior levels within organisations and understand the commercial, operational and people challenges leaders face.
We are comfortable supporting conversations at every level of an organisation, from first-line managers to board directors.
What types of HR issues can you help with?
The short answer is almost anything people-related.
We regularly support clients with:
- Employee relations issues
- Industrial relations matters
- Trade Union disputes
- Disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Complex employee complaints
- Performance management systems and processes
- Absence management
- Redundancy management
- Employment law guidance
- Recruitment support
- Contracts of employment
- Employee handbooks
- HR policies and procedures
- Organisational change
- Leadership challenges
- Workforce planning
- Management guidance
Some conversations last five minutes. Others develop into significant projects. Our role is to provide practical support regardless of the complexity of the issue.
Do you only deal with complex HR issues?
No. Most of our work involves helping managers and leaders deal with everyday workplace situations.
In fact, one of the reasons clients value the service is that they can contact us early, before a problem becomes a bigger issue.
Sometimes a ten-minute conversation can prevent months of difficulty later.
Our philosophy has always been that prevention is better than cure.
Do you provide customised HR documentation?
Yes.
We regularly develop contracts of employment, employee handbooks, policies, procedures and management guides for our clients.
We do not believe effective documentation can be created simply by adding a company logo to a generic template.
Before developing documentation, we take time to understand the organisation, its workforce, management style, culture and future plans.
This allows us to create documentation that is legally compliant, practical and aligned with the organisation’s specific needs.
Do you provide training?
Yes.
We deliver customised management and employee training programmes tailored to the needs of each organisation.
We also support clients with learning management systems and develop supporting resources such as videos, podcasts, animations, articles, guides and communication materials that help bring policies, procedures and people initiatives to life.
Our training is practical, engaging and grounded in real workplace experience.
More details about our training services can be found here.
Can Insight HR provide support on-site?
Yes.
While many issues can be managed effectively through phone and email support, there are situations where face-to-face support adds significant value.
Our consultants are located throughout Ireland and regularly work on-site with clients.
Whether supporting managers through a difficult employee relations issue, delivering training, facilitating workshops, supporting organisational change or providing practical guidance during a challenging situation, we are available when organisations need us.
Can Insight HR support projects as well as day-to-day HR support?
Yes.
Many clients initially engage us for HR support and later draw on our expertise for broader people-related projects.
Our HR Services team regularly supports organisations with:
- Management and employee training
- Change management programmes
- Organisational development initiatives
- Wellness programmes and frameworks
- Pay and benefits reviews
- Job evaluation projects
- Organisational design reviews
- Culture reviews and engagement initiatives
- HR process reviews
- HR Department reviews
- Compliance audits and WRC Inspections
One of the advantages of working with Insight HR is that we already understand the organisation, making it easier to deliver practical and effective solutions.
What happens if we need specialist expertise?
One of the benefits of working with Insight HR is the breadth of expertise available within the wider organisation and our professional network.
If a client requires specialist support, we can provide access to expertise in areas such as workplace investigations, mediation, organisational design, change management, leadership development and culture change.
Where expertise is required outside our core specialisms, we can introduce clients to trusted specialists.
Our objective is always to ensure clients receive the best advice available.
Do you provide health and safety services?
No. While we understand the interaction between HR and health and safety, we believe specialist health and safety advice should be provided by qualified health and safety professionals.
We do not conduct risk assessments, prepare safety statements or deliver specialist health and safety training.
When clients require health and safety expertise, we can introduce them to trusted specialists in this area.
Do you represent employers at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC)?
No. We believe representation before the Workplace Relations Commission is best handled by experienced employment law solicitors and barristers.
Our role is different.
We focus on helping organisations avoid disputes through practical advice, strong management practices, fair procedures and robust documentation.
When a claim arises, we help clients assess the risks, understand their options and identify the most appropriate legal representation. We often remain involved throughout the process, helping ensure continuity, acting as expert witnesses, providing practical support and ensuring cost control.
In our experience, the best outcome is not winning a case. The best outcome is avoiding the dispute altogether.
Do you advise on GDPR matters?
We regularly advise clients on HR processes involving employee data and confidentiality.
However, where complex GDPR or data protection issues arise, we believe clients are best served by specialist data protection experts.
We work closely with trusted specialists in this area and can introduce clients to the appropriate expertise when required.
Why doesn’t Insight HR offer insurance-backed HR support?
Our focus has always been on helping organisations reduce risk rather than helping them defend claims after problems arise.
We believe the best outcome for any employer is not winning a workplace dispute. The best outcome is avoiding the dispute altogether.
Through practical advice, strong management practices, fair procedures and robust documentation, we help organisations minimise risk and address issues before they escalate.
Our customised documentation and robust paper trails regularly place clients in a strong position should disputes arise.
Is Insight HR the cheapest HR support option available?
No, and we do not try to be.
We believe organisations should understand what they are comparing when evaluating HR support providers.
Some services focus on handling a high volume of queries efficiently. Others focus on online resources, template documentation or broader membership offerings.
Our approach is different.
We provide organisations with access to experienced HR professionals who take the time to understand their business, support managers, strengthen internal HR capability and provide practical guidance informed by experience, context and commercial understanding.
We do not view HR support as a commodity and we do not compete solely on price.
Why do clients believe Insight HR represents good value?
Our clients are not simply paying for answers to HR questions.
They are investing in access to experienced professionals who help them make informed decisions, avoid unnecessary risk, support managers, strengthen internal HR capability and navigate difficult people challenges.
Many clients tell us that a single piece of timely advice, a well-managed employee relations issue or a difficult management conversation handled correctly has delivered significantly more value than the annual cost of the service itself.
The true value of HR support is often measured not by the questions asked, but by the problems prevented.
How is Insight HR’s advice different?
Good HR advice is about more than quoting legislation and identifying risks.
Business leaders manage competing priorities, commercial pressures, operational realities and workforce challenges every day.
Our role is to help leaders understand the legal position, assess the risks, consider the options and make informed decisions.
We do not believe in scaremongering, generic advice or one-size-fits-all solutions.
We believe in practical, commercially focused guidance that reflects the realities of the organisation while helping clients manage risk appropriately.
Our objective is not to tell clients what they want to hear. It is to help them make the right decision for their organisation.
Why do organisations move to Insight HR from another HR provider?
Every organisation’s reasons are different, but the feedback we hear most often is remarkably consistent.
Clients tell us they are looking for more experienced advisers, greater continuity, more personalised support and practical guidance tailored to their organisation.
They want advisers who understand their business, provide clear and consistent advice and remain available when challenges arise.
Most importantly, they want confidence that when they pick up the phone, they will be speaking to someone who can genuinely help.
That is the service we strive to provide every day.
Why doesn’t Insight HR use long-term lock-in contracts?
Because we believe clients should stay with us because they value our service, not because they are contractually obligated to.
Our philosophy is simple: we earn the right to continue working with our clients every day through the quality of our advice, the strength of our relationships and the support we provide.
We believe that creates stronger, more accountable and more valuable partnerships for everyone involved.
What happens when I first contact Insight HR?
We start by understanding your organisation.
We want to understand your workforce, management structure, current challenges, future plans and the type of support you are looking for.
This allows us to determine whether our HR Support Service is the right fit for your organisation and ensures we can provide advice and support that reflects your specific circumstances.
We believe effective HR support starts with understanding the business behind the question.
How do you know if Insight HR is the right fit for your organisation?
We believe the best HR support relationships are built on trust, honesty and mutual respect.
Our role is not simply to answer questions. It is to help organisations make informed decisions, support managers, strengthen internal capability and build better workplaces.
For that reason, we spend time getting to know prospective clients before recommending our services. We want to understand the organisation, its challenges, its ambitions and the type of support it is looking for.
Sometimes we conclude that we are an excellent fit. Occasionally, we may suggest an alternative approach or recommend another specialist where we believe that is in the client’s best interests.
We believe long-term relationships work best when there is a genuine alignment between the needs of the client and the expertise we provide.
